'Anything goes' is the motto of this meme. There are so many flavours to the RP world, so why not have a taste of all of them?

TYPE OF SCENE.
① Action → Gun fights, bar brawls, fights to the death are all possible scenarios.
② Angst → Characters suffer emotionally or physically from relationships breaking up, death, injury, etc. Hurt and comfort themes are included.
③ Crack → Genderswaps, super powers, sudden compulsions are all possible outcomes.
④ Fluff → Something that is devoid of angst. It's light-hearted and might have the overtone of romance.
⑤ Gen → General fun, things that didn't fit in the other categories.
⑥ Your choice → Think of your own scenario, choose one of the above or make a combo even!



ACTION.
① Zombies → It's the zombie apocalypse, lock and load!
② Bar brawl → You had one too many drinks, said something wrong, and now you're being asked to take it outside.
③ Chase → You're caught in a high speed chase.
④ Gun fight → You're caught in a big shoot-out.
⑤ Fight with a friend → You're fighting with a friend, all out.
⑥ Interrogation → You're being interrogated for some offense you've done.
⑦ Aliens → Aliens are attacking and you're not going to take your probe laying down!

⑰ Sabotage → It's time to sabotage someone's plan! How is entirely up to you. Do you set up a bomb in their toilet? Do you double cross them at the last minute?
⑱ Big damn hero → You know you have to handle this one alone, so that means disarming or knocking unconscious the person who wants to join you.
⑲ Fight club → You know the rules... you're in an underground fighting ring and you're fighting with all you've got.
⑳ Threaten → You've just been sent here to rough them up a little, threaten them into behaving.



ANGST.
① Injury / illness → Your character has become injured or ill! To what extent is the mun's choice.
② Last moments → You character has been gravely injured and this is their last chance to say their last words.
③ Depression → Your character is depressed, what actions they take is up to the mun.
④ Betrayed → You character has been betrayed by the other. How do they react?
⑤ Tortured → Your character is being tortured and needs rescuing or at least a sympathetic ear to help him through it.
⑥ Jealousy → Your character is feeling jealous and must deal with it, how will they do it?

⑫ Addicted → You're addicted to something, alcohol, drugs, sex, whatever. It's destroying your life and you can't do anything to stop it.
⑬ Hurt you → You're being forced to hurt someone you love either by betraying them or even being forced to shout things you don't mean. It's for their own good in the end though.
⑭ Separation → You were forced to leave this person for their own safety and while you've been miserable without them, you really didn't mean to run into them again... maybe it was by accident or you were watching them from afar this whole time.
⑮ Becoming a monster → You are slowly changing, becoming a monster: vampire, zombie, demon, something you can't recover from and no-one can help you.
⑯ Frozen → You are entirely helpless, frozen, to stop some kind of disaster.
⑰ Prison → You were very bad and now it's time to pay the price by turning yourself in or maybe the law just finally caught up to you.
⑱ Fear → You're not sure why, but you are suddenly terrified and you can't deal with it. You need help.
⑲ Hated → You are now hated by the person you loved the most.
⑳ Down and out → You're living on the streets, you've hit rock bottom, and you don't know what to do.

④ Costume party → You're at a costume party, both of you are wearing masks. Do you keep the anonymity or take it off and see whose company you've been enjoying?

[No Shinigami. But how did he get the Note? Had he found it like Light and had just never had anyone show up? If so, it was likely he didn't know as many rules as Light. That made it more likely he would screw up and have the Note end up in the wrong hands. That couldn't happen. He'd prefer to go home to confirm his Note was still there, but he didn't know how much this man could be trusted.

But, this does make sense. He knew Light was Kira, somehow, and was one of the people who agreed with his work. He had never planned to actually meet those followers, but he didn't have much choice here. It explain why the man seemed so respectful to someone younger than him.

Putting the Note back out - he needed to make sure this man stayed comfortable and didn't get skittish - he would pull out his phone to type in a text.]

I'll come with you to the place you have in mind, but I'll have to let my family know I won't be coming home yet.

[It wouldn't take long to type out a quick message about a friend before he could pocket the phone.]

[ooc: I assume he didn't order him to take the eyes. He'd want someone who was not only willing to listen to him and do what was needed, but could predict what was needed and do it.]

[Mikami couldn't hide his surprise at those words. He considered himself a calculated man and liked to think that being caught off guard was unusual for him but the past two weeks or so of his life hadn't supported that hypothesis.

"The place you have in mind," was it? Not knowing exactly when or where he would find God or what circumstances to expect, a plan wasn't really feasible. He admitted to himself that he had likely been expecting an adult with his own private abode.

At any rate, for a moment that stiff solemnity softens as he reaches to tuck the note and pen away, murmuring almost absently though still using formal enough keigo to be odd towards one's junior outside of some fantasy setting involving child geniuses or the like.] Yes, of course...

[Mikami himself had been sleeping in cheap capsule hotels--the literal capsules one crawled into without standing room. It wouldn't be possible for him to get much of a proper job while sharing an identity with himself and he hardly wanted to come to prominence when he was of better service to his God undercover. Having taken the money from an account whose details he remembered from the past, it was all he had to sustain himself on.

He could actually put down the money for a hotel room for the night, as he needed a place to meet in privacy. There were rooms one could rent by the hour as well. The idea of going up to any desk with a teenage boy to get either sort of room was immediately mentally vetoed.

The entire Kanto region was so painfully crowded, a fact he'd become acutely aware of in his adventures in setting cameras and trying to look every last man, woman and child in the face. Fortunately, he'd also become somewhat familiar with the Tokyo area in his quest. There was a free option.]

...Ah. It may seem a questionable place. But I am praying your understanding of the situation. If you would feel more secure in first retrieving anything from your house before going some place with a stranger, I am able to wait there until the time is most convenient for you. My name is Mikami Teru.

[You can get your Note if both of us being equally capable of killing each other makes you feel safer.

Though he did neglect to tell him the spelling--Mikami wasn't written with the usual character for "three." He also neglected to tell him of certain circumstances that left him in a world with a twin of the same name and face--but it was a courtesy offering, not a practical one.

Which in a way was insulting, a rather desultory offering for one's God.

Mikami considered himself fortunate that this boy didn't seem, at least at this stage, to be so caught on his due proprieties. Deification was still likely fairly new to him.]

[Kira, creator of the new world, still lived at home with his parents, as a majority of people his age did. He cleaned the world between homework and school, between helping little sisters with homework and being a good son. Living on his own would be ideal, but it wasn't yet feasible. Someday. But this man was, if nothing else, an adult. He would have a place of his own, some private place they could go to speak. Even if Light took him home, his mother would inquire about the reason and would find it appropriately strange.

He also now had his name, which would help. Did this man have his? He hadn't offered, but he had tracked him down so it was best to assume so. However, before they could go further, he needed to clarify some things. For one, why a questionable place instead of his home? Was he married? There was no ring but not everyone shared them and even if he normally had one, it could have come off with his suit.

Going home would mean revealing the location of his own Note, should there be others watching.]

In that case, if you don't mind loaning me a sheet so that I can keep track of where we're going, we can go now. If it's questionable, I'm sure you'll understand why I want to keep details for any later questions.

[If the Note is real, do you trust me enough to give me direct possession of a sheet?]

[If he was requesting a sheet, it either meant that he did not have his Note with him, or did not want to risk revealing to Mikami where it was on his person. The most obvious assumption was in his school satchel, that certainly seemed safer than merely leaving it at home, but then Mikami hadn't made his own safe-keeping contraption in his home. At this point, neither had Light. But on the sheet that Mikami tore out after taking the Note out once again, opening it, and beginning to write something before turning it over was the address to an abandoned building that, had the flow of events not been interrupted, he would have constructed and tested the flammable portions of said hiding space in within another few days.

Despite the fact that Light was a student and was certain to have a writing implement somewhere on him, somewhere in his bag if nothing else, Mikami handed over the pen he had written with as well. From there he waited in silence, either for a cue to lead the way or for God to take the lead now knowing the destination. In either case, en route his eyes would scan cautiously for any followers, any watchers. The necessity of caution allowed him to repress the excitement of seeing God, of being instrumental in clearing away his obstacles more quickly, so efficiently that he was ironically making himself obsolete. But ideally, God should never have needed his assistance the way he did. When first thinking it recognition and a gift it was a wondrous matter, but God's plan could not be interrupted, no matter how happy it made Mikami to have a part in it.

At least that was what he needed to tell himself. It was the right thing to think, the right way to feel, and so he would make it how he thought and how he felt.

If only willing himself to have those adult resources Light presumed Mikami had worked quite the same way.]

[Light was a leader. If nothing else, the way he had taken over this note, the way he'd decided to clean the world despite the personal cost to himself should stand testament to that. He believed in his ideas and he was willing to put the work, the time into them to see them come to fruition; what other honor student spent so much time in cram school and such, despite being good enough without the additional help.?

Nonetheless, he also wants to keep an eye out on this man, this Mikami Teru. Already, he was at a disadvantage with this man knowing more about Light than Light did about Mikami. He'd known he held the Notebook, likely that he was Kira - for killer; couldn't they have chosen a better name? - and who knew what else? For now, Light knew a name without knowing the precise spelling. Though, he could likely guess soon enough.]

Thank you. Then, if you're ready Mikami-san. [He doesn't know his status to add the traditional suffix, so he went with the more formal, more blanket title. He would follow along, being able to watch their surroundings without taking his eyes of Mikami himself. They were going into a strange place, led by a stranger, so no precaution without good reason would seem too extreme at the moment.

If nothing else, Japan was a very crowded city. There was a safety in those numbers, even if Kira could kill in a crowd without no one knowing.]

[So he would be the one to lead the way. It wasn't surprising that God wouldn't want to have Mikami, still a veritable stranger who if anything knew too much, behind him. As he started along the pathway, he considered the fact that the boy behind him was probably writing out his name, leaving off one stroke so that if necessary he could end him even more swiftly. That would be what Mikami himself would do in such a situation. It almost earns a wry smile at the necessary tension of their first meeting. Once the future changes, Mikami's own usefulness will inevitably plummet to below what it had been in what he considered the present and what Light would consider the future. He can't support himself and operate as freely. Mikami's current worth is in his knowledge of what's to come, and the first change to that will inevitably and completely dash that.

If it were Mikami himself, he would eliminate the being from the future as dead weight and then, if he were found to have been loyal and useful enough aside from his failure to support himself, turn to the one in the present.

But Mikami Teru was a man and limited. He would do so with the understanding that someone such as himself would be willing to die, would rather be dead. God was God. Even if not omniscient and omnipotent, God ultimately did what he did for the sake of the good people in society wanting to make a contribution. Thus, even while it made the most sense to assume his death, Mikami didn't have the mental preparations, the emotional expectation of such. For a man thrown out of his own time and place, he was fearless. He wrote it off as his own level of dedication, being prepared, but "denial" might have been the more accurate term.


As the abandoned construction area came into distant view, he would time his pacing, keeping an eye out for people in the area. It'd be impossible to go there with absolutely nobody about, but he could loiter, could pretend to be fishing in his briefcase for this or that, could circle the property until it seemed the crowd level was low and those present seemed distracted in nearing the building, in taking that final step onto the property and hurrying behind the walls for protection.

Such precautions made it possible to speak abruptly upon their arrival, certain, once inside, that there was nobody within close hearing range.]

Tomorrow evening a detective codenamed "L" will seek to humiliate you on a live public broadcast exclusive to this Kanto region in order to place you.

[For somebody whose speech was so wrought with formalities, he at least got to the point quickly in this. It was too straight faced to be a joke. Or was it so straight faced it could only possibly be a joke? He stood there offering nothing more, no further support nor explanation of his statement, waiting for the response.

Ultimately it should have been God who set the pace, so how much detail, how much clarification he needed, how much interaction and interpersonal communication needed to take place in this exchange would be left to him. It wasn't proper for Mikami to be the one with more knowledge or power in this situation. He'd seek to set things in God's control again as quickly as possible. ]

[Tomorrow evening a detective codenamed "L" will seek to humiliate you on a live public broadcast exclusive to this Kanto region in order to place you. Instead of an answer, this only raised that many more questions. How did this man know? How did the man know who he was? Did he work for the codenamed detective? If so, it only made it more likely this was to draw him out.

And yet, he had the Note. It was possible this was a fake Note of course, but if they had this much they could be searching his room. They would find the Note and he would be caught! He should have gone there first, should have hidden the evidence!

No. He had to stay calm. If they had this much, they could have already searched his room and there would be no need to distract him, especially not in such an odd way. A warrant would have gotten them in, no matter the objection. Furthermore, they couldn't prove the names, dates, and such were written before those people died. If found, he could claim they were research. However, if he'd gone so far as to hide it, then it would have looked more suspicious. He just had to stay calm.]

Is this the man the employs you? If so, he wouldn't appreciate you tipping me off, if I had somehow come under suspicion. If I am, I'll gladly submit myself to questioning instead of hidden meetings.

[Due caution but a bit overdone. If Mikami were working with L and possessed the knowledge of the Note he had used to communicate with and lure the boy this far, this would be seen as an obvious late-save throw. Six points, out of ten. It was at least better than the complete ignorance act. Mikami had encountered suspects like this in his work often enough to have a feel for the pattern. That was what Mikami attributed his assessment to, rather than a supernatural ability to identify him as a Note owner and an inexplicable knowledge of the future.

Mikami's expression could perhaps have been read as unimpressed if it had changed at all since their arrival in the abandoned building.

It was possible that this Kira, the first Kira, was not the Kira who had selected him. It was possible this Kira met with an end; several times the patterns of Kira had changed, but there was known to be a second Kira. How long either of them lasted, who was trusted, who betrayed them, whose morals were at work were all unknown variables. It was no time to be grading God on ability. What mattered was his heart. Under these conditions, honest communication was impossible to determine that.

Then the plan would proceed with the assumption this boy was God.]

I work exclusively and gratefully for you. And it is an honor. I don't know how many Notes have come into your possession nor how many lesser gods, that is Shinigami, it is that you nobly administer, but I've made the exchange with one sent by you and named Ryuk.

If I were an enemy, impossible for it would imply an error in your own judgment, I would have established, with certainty, your possession of the Note. I would not need a confession for successful conviction. No, as you are surely aware, I could engineer a confession, determining your guilt by how much you were able to say.

[It was not that God did not know these things, but likely had no reason to believe a man as unimpressive as Mikami was at the moment would have thought of that. Indeed, it was in a suspect's best interest not to confess or give investigators or police anything to work with. 6/10 as better than average, even if it was certain to be the lowest grade Light had likely gotten in his life.

If it were any consolation, the proctor's terrible bias against criminals meant that even a stunning dodge of responsibility and false alibis, so stunning they were ultimately successful even, received assessments as below average. God was not a criminal. Some would say he gave his God unfairly positive assessment.]

[No, the problem isn't that Mikami is overestimating Light, it's that he's underestimating him. If it turned out that this was a setup, he knew he could twist it to make following this man a foolhardy but ultimately well-intentioned move. The prosecutor assumed Light had made a mistake be following if he still suspected him, but he was really just unable to see far enough to know how easily Light could talk himself out of situations. A tongue woven from silk had advantages.

However, things really did begin to unravel as the man spoke. Rather than an enemy, he sounded like a less than sane man who had somehow managed to gain knowledge about the Death Note. He knew the Shinigami's name, but he also claimed that Light had sent him. Either there was a miscommunication or this man's inability to think straight was a bigger problem than he thought.]

While I think it's impossible to have confused me with someone else, I haven't met you before today. I've had neither means or reasons to contact you.

[His mind wasn't going to assume the man was from the future. A Note that killed people was already stretching his beliefs.]

As I have shared your ideals, served them as well as perhaps any man could in a mortal capacity, and have spoken favorably of them from a position of status and prestige for some time, [Said the man whose briefcase alone supported such an image, or would did it not only highlight more strongly how much the rest of his tailoring did not.] it is unlikely that that is the first you had graced me with your attention and awareness.

[With that, Mikami would stand, hands still straight at his sides. No part of him expected this to be accepted yet, but it would be rude to prattle on without giving his God his own chance to speak.

Or rather, he'd only come, ill prepared, with historic dates and events memorized. Had Mikami known he would be taking such a trip, he would have surely analyzed the case of Kira further for a far better presentation than this, to offer the best quality product--information--as his God deserved.

If preparing for time travel was ridiculous, his failure to have done so was worse than ridiculous, it was harmful. If he were truly to serve God, he knew he would have been best off studying, recalling everything, as if to give a presentation, a set of options, an educated opinion worth hearing at any time as an offering to him.

But this would seem patently ridiculous no matter what. That wasn't comfort, in fact it was so far from comfort that Mikami would question the grammatical correctness of the leading 'but', but that truth, whatever its context, did grant him some certain leeway in that no amount of preparation would have left him prepared for this moment.

It was the situation that was ridiculous, not Mikami. He was taking this very seriously.

[Being of a mature state, Light found a lot of things ridiculous. Many a time, he had even found his own classmates ridiculous. He had found his own Note ridiculous before running experiments. However, time travel was of an entirely new level. No matter how he went over the words in his mind, this man was suggesting that he had come from the future, something so far past ridiculous that he indeed needed to rethink his vocabulary if he found it the best word.

Light didn't bother trying to think of the right one. Would he need it for the next time traveling man that showed up on his home from school?

More pressingly, this man was obviously not in his right mind and yet he possessed the Note. If he were found, he wouldn't hold up under questioning and everything Light had worked on would fall apart. He couldn't just chalk this man up as insane and walk away. He had to be handled. If he really held Light up to such high esteem, maybe he would take orders from him without too much worry.]

I'm sure you realize this isn't something that I can just accept as fact. I haven't done research on time travel myself, but I am aware of the impossibilities of it. If, as you say, I contacted you, then you should be a man of reasonable intelligence and thus should have prepared proof.

[He would pretend to humor him this much and then work it out from there. If he took it well enough, there might be hope for him. However, it if he really were ill, he would be harder to predict than most.]

[Some small degree of the formality shifted with the initial explanation out of the way, a feeling not unlike moving from the opening statement to the trial phase itself. He still stood straightly, still continued to use careful and formal keigo, but Mikami was aware that at this point to be too caught up in formalities would only complicate an what was already doomed to be a mess of a palaver.]

I'm hoping that you will be able to determine terms that would make you comfortable with employing me in your strategies. Despite being mocked after killing Tailor, you remain active for six years to come. If you opt not to play into L's hand tomorrow, things may change in ways I can't predict. But third party elements such as the false Kira are likely to come at the same time. There are also periods during which you cease to operate, but these are all developments half a year or more away. My finances won't hold out that long. I exist concurrently with a present version of myself. I can't very well work in his name without causing a tax problem that would draw attention to us.

[Rather, with his purchases of cameras and the like to better survey Tokyo, he wouldn't likely make it to New Years even if he did live frugally. But there was no reason to trouble God with that. If he weren't useful by then...]

There is of course the possibility that you'll kill me and take this second Note. It's possible I'm a madman. I'm repaying the gamble you'd taken in placing your faith in me by returning that faith in you now; but a declaration of sentiments is hardly proof. I still present it for your consideration. If it's madness, I'm not presenting according to typical patterns; the grandeur doesn't apply to myself. You are God.

[And Mikami was just the very special one chosen by God and given the right and the power to mass murder. That wasn't symptomatic of some kind of potentially criminal insanity at all.]

[He should kill him now and take his Note. He could hardly believe in time travel because this man claimed it was true. No, he wouldn't have even been the first person to claim it was true, as it was a popular enough conspiracy theory. The man was right enough that expression of sentiment wasn't a good argument. With his inability to properly reason and assess reality, he was a danger to Light and himself. No, he was a danger to the world, as any danger to Kira would be. So, he should die.

He wouldn't. Not yet. First, there were a few tests. There were a few other likelihoods Light wanted to explore before making that decision. The first of which was to confirm he was on the right side. He had a hard time believing any enemy of his would come up with such a story - or that they could have gotten his information - but he could at least rule out his relationship with the law.]

Make use of it. [Even being undercover wasn't a good enough reason for a policeman to kill someone.] If you're really who you say you are and can do as you'd like me to believe, you'll make use of your tools.

[Are you suggesting that I know of the Note and identified you as an owner through some other means? Much less through some means the world's police forces and greatest detectives couldn't? It couldn't be helped, however; by this point it was likely that he had never heard of L. Mikami certainly hadn't. Whether L had made any real headway or not was unknown, but that many world organizations were allegedly going to coordinate against Kira until, one by one, they backed into submission to order, reason and justice; that was a known. But only to himself, at this point, Mikami realized. It was more sensible to say "I don't know how" than to say "time travel." The pause was brief, the answer simple and unflinching.]

It will be as you order.

[He reached to take out the Note, speaking in the same tone as a very polite salesman may have said "How many can I put you down for?" once a sale was confirmed.] Whom will you allow me to eliminate for you today? I assume that you'll be unable to confirm the results very quickly, but...

[He had a Note. That alone would have put him ahead of the usual detectives. Admittedly, nothing he could see identified this man as an owner other than possession of the Note, but his was still fairly new. It had been less than a week since it had come into his possession, and he was still learning new things about ownership.

He pulls out his phone and begins clicking through, waiting for the internet to connect.]

Death's aren't reported immediately. [So, he was right in assuming it wasn't something that could be verified immediately.] But while we wait, there are other things I want to know. For example, if you are from the future, then there is another version of yourself here. I'd like to confirm that. I'll need the information on the current you.

[Even saying that much sounded crazy, but if he was able to systematically poke holes in this story, it would make it easier later.]

[With his briefcase in one arm for the Note and a pen already, it doesn't take much effort to divert his fingers to the folder with the ATM receipt taken when withdrawing the money from his account..] If you're to contact the present me, it may draw undue attention as I've drained my bank account. [Fingers cover the 'Mi' in his last name in a manner that does seem quite ordinary for the way one would hold a slip of paper as he presents it briefly for the other's inspection. It's soon tucked away beneath a page of the Note as he folds the book open, holding it against his briefcase like a clipboard in one arm while rattling off the full account number even. It includes the last four digits Light would have seen on the paper; the rest were visibly censored, as typical on a receipt.] ...I would log into my Kyoto-based bank account with your phone, but I'm sure I'm already having an investigation done into an account breach from Tokyo. The terminal I drew from was here, after all. [Whether Light believed him or not, he would not want that level of attention. The current Mikami Teru, he can be certain, will not be contacted, no matter how tempted a good and moral God may be to make restitution to him, to put things in order as justice demands.]

Currently, "Mikami Teru" is attending Kyoto University's law program. "I" am a graduate who's passed the bar exam and who has finished my internship. I;ve been in practice for approximately three years with the Kyoto public prosecutor's office.

[And then, without missing a beat, as if none of this is really all that strange, he looks to the phone expectantly, pen prepared to write.] A face alone will do.

[Ordinary or not, wasn't it also a bit suspicious? They were two people who could kill by name and face and here he was, having some of his name obscured by his finger placement? He hardly doubted it a was coincidence. The older man didn't trust him as much as he pretended to. Rather than being offended - he hardly killed innocent people but if this man was worthy of punishment, he wasn't at all ashamed to be known as someone willing to pass along that judgement - it was of note that this man wanted to play up that trust. That likely meant the name didn't have a common spelling. While Light would have normally had more of an advantage there than most, Mikami Teru probably knew how to properly spell his name. He'd have to do as much research as possible to make sure he had the right spelling.

And then his thoughts stopped, the click on his phone coming to a halt. This man had seemed to know how the Note worked and yet, he had said something impossible. No, he had made a point to say it, as if he knew how it normally worked.

Brown eyes looked at him questioningly, urging him to answer without making Light himself admit to knowing too much about it. Of course he would need a name and a face. Without a name, a face was useless.]

[Both unaware that his 'smooth' little act was noted as suspicious and that he'd 'cunningly' distracted him, Mikami returned that look. While Light's look was questioning, Mikami himself missed the nuance, merely patiently waiting.

Maybe God was deciding who to use. If he were a student, his opportunities to follow the news yet today may have been limited. That was what Mikami thought, quite pleasantly patient internally even if his external expression was stiff and ever at the ready for his orders.]

[He had to trend carefully here. This was at odds with what was written in the book itself. If it was possible to kill using only a face, all of the criminals using aliases would have long since been dead. It was a flaw Light was aware of. So, either other Death Notes worked differently - and if so, he needed this man's Note - or this was a fish for information.]

Then, Kira only needs a face to kill?

[Now that they have met. For Mikami, unaware that his God is not only not in possession of the eyes but not aware of the sheer concept of them, it's a simple statement of loyalty. His eyes are indeed Kira's.

Surely, this will be put to a cunning use against L whose own data so far must suggest that Kira has a limitation of that nature. The Sakura TV Kira drew such a conclusion with far less data.

This Kira was able to persist for six years without such an advantage, much less without the advantage of a visitor from the future. The New World will come all the more swiftly now. That's worth a very faint smile.]

Interesting. [The book itself said you needed a name and a face, he'd been over it countless times. There was no tricky wording, it was concrete. The face had to be in your mind, the name written out. How could he even kill without a name? Draw their face in the book?] I hadn't been aware Kira could kill with just a face. That would make him even more dangerous.

[He needed an explanation. What was Mikami getting at? It still sounded like he knew it shouldn't work that way. This Kira was 17 years old, still in high school, and hadn't even heard of Shinigami eyes. Ryuk had, but he hadn't yet shared that information, wouldn't share it until the fake L appeared on the television.]

[Well, it wasn't as if he should have really expected gratitude. After all, his loyalty was a given... to the Kira of the future. The present Kira however, the one who might have actually died in the interim and who had perhaps given up the Note as early as tomorrow, was another matter.

No, if he were behaving like this, Mikami thought, it was most likely that he wasn't of a nature to cooperate. Kira played a defensive game, then. Trusting Mikami at all in the future must have meant things were quite dire, if this were the same Kira. He was still feigning not just innocent but ignorant--though to know anything more was to be Kira, without a doubt. They were inevitably one in the same.

Mikami's eyes went to Light's phone, a motion meant to urge him to get on with the means of proof he would accept.]

[His eyes went back to the phone, the 'click click' of the buttons filling the new silence as he looked for an article, memorized the name, and clicked on the picture. It was a newer article, one this man wasn't as likely to have memorized. It was impossible to do it only by the picture.

It was then held out to him.]

[His eyes only briefly looked to the phone screen before lowering to the page, beginning to write. He only paused before adding the final stroke, not bothering to glance up, fairly certain he would have been given any specifications beforehand. But God did seem thrown off of his game a bit by this entire situation. Understandable. Best to check that there were no specifications, no actions to put him through to make the other aware of it more quickly, Mikami supposed. By the time Mikami had obtained his Note, criminal deaths were reported fairly openly, and he also had certain connections if it were regarding criminals within Japan, particularly in the western half. A high school boy likely didn't have the same resources.]

A heart attack, right now, yes?

[But even before that final stroke, he could see that the man had the name right. How? Had he really memorized every criminal Light may have chosen? Even as he noted Mikami knew the Note could kill by means other than a heart attack, it was secondary. This man, this Note owner was more powerful than him. That made him dangerous; that made his useful.]

As most are. [He began to click through the phone, looking for random articles, random pictures.] You can get the name just from seeing the picture? [That was what he was meant to believe, anyway.]
